Welcome to the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Tarsus University!

The physiotherapy profession has existed worldwide for more than a century, and its foundations in Türkiye were established in 1961. A physiotherapist is a healthcare professional who helps individuals improve their movement and functional abilities and regain their independence following illness, injury, ageing, or congenital and acquired disabilities, while also contributing to the protection and promotion of health in healthy individuals. The foundation of physiotherapy lies in understanding how movement and function occur and how movement is related to the body's systems.

As the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Tarsus University, our priority is to educate physiotherapists who are aware of the health problems of contemporary society, respect ethical values, and are capable of responding to technological advancements and the increasing needs of the healthcare sector.

The language of instruction in our department is Turkish. Our curriculum aims to educate well-equipped and versatile physiotherapists with strong academic communication skills by supporting the fundamental knowledge and skills gained through compulsory courses with a wide range of elective courses. Students can choose from numerous elective courses related not only to physiotherapy and rehabilitation but also to arts, social sciences, and technical sciences according to their interests.

Our graduates may be employed in public and private healthcare institutions providing preventive, therapeutic, and rehabilitative services, as well as in university or state hospitals, thermal spa rehabilitation centres, and sports clubs. Graduates of our programme also have the opportunity to establish Healthy Living & Exercise Counselling Centres, Geriatric Care and Rehabilitation Centres, or Special Education and Rehabilitation Centres.

In addition, our academic staff is young and dynamic, consisting of faculty members who graduated from distinguished and well-established schools of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation in Türkiye. We also continue to improve the technological infrastructure and laboratory facilities of our department in line with its rapid development.
