What Are the Transportation Options to Tarsus?

Tarsus has a strategically important geographical location and is approximately 30 minutes from both the airport and the city centres of Mersin and Adana. The city centre can be reached quickly from the airport by HAVAŞ shuttle services and from Mersin and Adana by high-speed train. Located at an equal distance from the city centres of Adana and Mersin, Tarsus is highly accessible through highways, motorways, and high-speed rail connections linking these cities.

Is Transportation to the University Adequate?

Our University is located north of the Mersin–Adana motorway and is easily accessible from both cities by road, motorway, and high-speed train. After arriving in Tarsus, students can easily reach the University by Metropolitan Municipality buses, which have a high passenger capacity. The frequency of these public transportation services has increased over time, and students are not expected to experience any transportation difficulties.

Tarsus is an ancient city distinguished by its geographical advantages, population representing more than 54 provinces of Türkiye, proximity to the Çukurova Regional Airport, and rich historical and cultural heritage. The city's diverse population has also contributed significantly to its social and cultural development. Numerous cultural and social events, including opera performances, theatre productions, and concerts, are organized by various institutions and organizations throughout the year.

In addition, the close proximity of Tarsus to the city centres of Mersin and Adana enables students to benefit from the social, cultural, and economic opportunities offered by these two cities, which together have a population of approximately four million. Festivals such as the Orange Blossom Carnival, Lemon Blossom Festival, Citrus Festival, MillionFest, and Şaymana Festival, along with many other social and cultural events, are regularly held in these cities. Is Student Accommodation Available?

There are three student dormitories operated by the Credit and Dormitories Institution (KYK) in Tarsus. In addition to these high-capacity public dormitories, private student residences are also available in the city.

Is Dining Available on Campus?

Our University has a dining hall that serves lunch and offers students a four-course meal at an affordable price. In addition, there are cafeterias located throughout the campus.

Are There Student Clubs at the University?

Our University has a variety of student clubs that are open to all students. If students wish to establish a new club, a faculty member is appointed as the club's academic advisor. Who Is a Physiotherapist?

According to Article 9, Paragraph (b) of Law No. 6225, published in the Official Gazette No. 27916 dated 26 April 2011, a physiotherapist is defined as a healthcare professional who has graduated from a faculty or school providing undergraduate education in physiotherapy.

A physiotherapist is a healthcare professional with professional autonomy who identifies problems resulting from injury, disease, congenital disability, musculoskeletal disorders, or other conditions through specialized assessment methods; plans, implements, re-evaluates, and reports physiotherapy and rehabilitation programmes aimed at improving functional capacity in accordance with the diagnosis made by a specialist physician; and also plans appropriate exercise and preventive programmes to maintain the health of healthy individuals.

What Are the Career Opportunities for Graduates of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation?

Graduates of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation may work in public and private hospitals, medical centres, exercise counselling centres, special education centres, sports clubs, fitness centres, nursing homes, healthy living centres, rehabilitation centres, and university hospitals. They may also establish their own private exercise counselling centres.
 

What Courses Are Offered in the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation?

In addition to medical sciences courses, the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation primarily offers professional core courses. Professional courses are delivered through theoretical instruction, laboratory practice, clinical practice, and internships. The major professional course areas include Orthopaedic Rehabilitation, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Pediatric Rehabilitation, Geriatric Rehabilitation, Orthotics and Prosthetics, Sports Physiotherapy, and Neurological Rehabilitation.

Is Clinical Practice/Internship Mandatory in the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation?

In the undergraduate Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation programme, summer internships are scheduled during the summer terms following the second and third academic years. In the fourth year, clinical practice in different departments or hospitals is compulsory.

Are Postgraduate Education Opportunities Available?

Graduates who complete the undergraduate programme have the opportunity to pursue Master's and PhD degrees in any of the sub-disciplines of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation according to their academic interests.

How Long Is the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Programme?

The undergraduate programme in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation has a duration of four years.

What Are the Graduation Requirements for the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation?

To graduate from the undergraduate programme in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation, students must achieve a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00, successfully complete all compulsory and elective courses, and earn a total of 240 ECTS credits.

What Professional Title Do Graduates Receive?

Graduates of the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation are awarded the professional title of Physiotherapist.

Are Graduates Required to Pass an Examination Before Starting Their Careers?

Graduates may begin working in private hospitals, public hospitals, or university hospitals. Appointment to positions in public and university hospitals requires a valid score on the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).

Can Students Meet with Academic Staff Whenever They Need?

Each student in our department is assigned an academic advisor. Students may consult with their advisor, course instructors, and the department administration whenever necessary. Academic guidance is provided on course selection, clinical practice and internships, exchange programmes such as Erasmus, Farabi, and Mevlana, as well as postgraduate education opportunities.

Can Students Attend Summer School?

Summer school may be offered within the academic year. The principles governing summer school are determined by the University Senate. In accordance with these regulations and with the approval of the relevant faculty board, students may take one or more summer courses at other higher education institutions. The transfer of course credits and grades is approved by the relevant faculty board, and the conversion of grades earned at other institutions is carried out according to the principles established by the University Senate.

Can Students Participate in National and International Student Exchange Programmes (Farabi, Erasmus, etc.)?

Our students may participate in the Erasmus Programme and study for one or two semesters at one of the partner universities abroad. They may also benefit from the Farabi Programme by studying for one or two semesters at a partner higher education institution within Türkiye.
